What is Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment?
Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) is a service offered by Amazon that allows e-commerce sellers to fulfill orders from multiple sales channels using Amazon’s vast network of fulfillment centers. With MCF, sellers can store their products in Amazon’s warehouses and when they receive orders from platforms other than Amazon (such as Shopify, eBay, Walmart, or Etsy), Amazon takes care of the packing, shipping, and delivery processes on their behalf. This enables sellers to centralize their fulfillment operations, simplifying order management and logistics while reaching a broader audience through various online marketplaces.
Though there are costs associated with MCF, the convenience, and efficiency it offers make it a valuable solution for sellers seeking to expand their sales reach and optimize their e-commerce operations. To get a clearer understanding of the costs associated with your MCF orders, you can use the FBA Calculator, an invaluable tool provided by Amazon. It helps you calculate and plan your expenses, ensuring you can make informed decisions to optimize your profitability.
How does Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment work?
Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) works in a straightforward and efficient manner to streamline the order fulfillment process for e-commerce sellers operating on multiple platforms. Here’s how it works:
Store Inventory at Amazon: Begin by sending your inventory to Amazon’s fulfillment centers. Create a shipping plan and ship your products to the designated Amazon warehouses.
Receive Orders from Other Sales Channels: When you receive orders from non-Amazon sales channels (like Shopify, eBay, Walmart, Etsy), manually enter those orders into your Amazon Seller Central account.
Order Processing: Once the orders are entered, Amazon treats them as regular orders placed on its platform, and its system processes them accordingly.
Amazon Fulfillment: Amazon takes charge of picking, packing, and shipping the products to your customers, mirroring its fulfillment process for standard Amazon orders.
Shipment Tracking: Amazon provides shipment tracking information, which you can share with your customers through the respective sales channels to keep them informed about their order status.
How to use Amazon MCF to ship orders for other platforms?
Now, let’s dive into the process of using Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) directly from Amazon Seller Central. Get ready to simplify your e-commerce life and take your sales to new heights!
Step 1: First, Log into your Amazon account.
Step 2: Head over to the top menu, select Order, and click on Create MCF Order. You’ll be taken to the MCF order page. Here, you can place your Multi-Channel Fulfillment order.
Step 3: Fill in the customer address section with all the necessary details such as country, full name, address, and contact information.
Step 4: Next, input your item details. You can search for your products by title, MSKU, ASIN, or FNSKU. We are going with the ASIN now. Don’t forget to adjust the item units accordingly.
Step 5: Here, we have two options, The first one is Only ship with blank boxes, you can turn this on if your item is eligible for unbranded packaging, Second one is Block Amazon Logistics as a carrier for this order. If you turn it on, you’re prohibiting the usage of Amazon Logistics as a carrier for your MCF orders. Remember, there will be an additional fee for MCF orders without Amazon Logistics.
Step 6: Now, enter your Order ID, or if you leave it blank, Amazon will generate one for you. You can also add any Packing Slip comments if needed.
Step 8: Click on “Optional details.” Here, you can add Packing slip order date and Packing slip order ID, but that’s totally optional.
Step 9: Now, the last part – Choose a shipping speed. Standard for regular shipping, Expedited for faster shipping, and Priority for super fast delivery within 1-2 days.
Step 10: After confirming all the information, click on Place Order to complete the process. Amazon will handle the rest – picking, packing, and shipping your product to the customer.
This was the process for placing a single order from MCF. Now, in case you have multiple orders to place, then you can go with the option Create a Bulk Order. For this one, Download the flat file, fill up all the order information, and upload the file. The required information is the same as the manual process.
