On SellerCloud we can create both Shadow and Kit. Both of them are assigned under parent product. They work similarly, that’s why sometimes we may have confusion about the difference between shadow and kit. Let’s make a clear concept about Shadow and Kit.
The main difference between shadow and kit is, a shadow is like a duplicate of the parent product with a different identity and a kit product is a group of the individual product or multiple products.

Shadow Product
A shadow product is a type of virtual product. It’s a shadow of a real product – it’s inventory count is linked to an actual inventory SKU, but it can have its alternative product profile.
How does a Shadow Product work?
For example, an SKU may have one profile while the shadow SKU will have different Product ID, description, images, and title. This is an innovative and very useful method by which to list a product in alternative venues. Like Amazon and eBay only allow a single SKU to be listed once, under one category. Also, in Shopify, you can create the same SKU but SellerCloud will sync quantity for only one SKU. By creating a shadow SKU,
or multiple shadows, the product can be listed in multiple categories, we can sync quantity to all similar items.
That means a shadow product is like a duplicate of the parent product with a different identity.
Kit Product
A kit is a product that consists of other products. A kit can consist of multiple units of a single product, or it can consist of a group of different products. In the Kit properties, you can select any two products and sell them as a bundled kit. The kit feature can bind components inventories together so there will be no risk of overselling the parent SKU or the child components.
How does a Kit/Bundle Product work?
For example, if most components of a kit have an available quantity of 15 each, but one component has an available quantity of 10, the Kit will only have an available quantity of 10. This is achieved by creating a relationship between the kit parent and the related component child SKU.
That means a kit product is a group of an individual product or multiple products.
