On Shopify, listing your items is easier than you might think! If you are new in this don’t worry– following a clear process can save you time and ensure that your products look great for potential customers.

In this article, I will cover the process of adding a product to Shopify, step-by-step. Also, I will give you some tips on how to create a strong title, write a compelling product description, and upload images.

By the end of this article, you’ll be ready to start selling on Shopify with confidence!

Here is the step-by-step process–

Log In to Your Shopify Account

First, log in to your Shopify account using your email and password. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be taken to the Shopify dashboard, which is your main hub for managing your store.

From the dashboard, navigate to the ‘Products’ section by clicking on it from the left-hand menu. This is where you’ll manage all of your product listings.

Adding a New Product

To add a new product, click on the ‘Add Product’ button at the top right of the page. This will take you to the product listing page, where you can input all the details about your product.

Add a Product Title

The first step in creating your product listing is adding a ‘title’. The title is one of the most important parts of your listing because it’s the first thing customers will see. A clear, concise, and keyword-rich title will help your product get discovered in search results and attract the right customers.

Tips for Writing a Good Title:

– Keep it short and specific.

– Use relevant keywords that describe the product.

– Avoid unnecessary words or symbols.

For example, instead of using a vague title like “T-shirt,” go for something more descriptive like “Men’s Cotton T-Shirt with Crew Neck – Black.”

Write a Compelling Product Description

Next, move on to the ‘description’ section. A well-written description can help persuade customers to buy your product. Your description should highlight the key features of your product and explain why it’s worth buying.

Here are a few tips for writing effective product descriptions:

– Start with the most important features or benefits of the product.

– Use bullet points to break down the information for easy reading.

– Focus on what makes your product unique or better than competitors.

A clear, detailed description not only helps potential buyers but also improves your product’s search engine optimization (SEO), making it easier for people to find your product online.

Upload Product Photos

After you’ve added the title and description, it’s time to upload product photos. High-quality images are crucial for online selling because they give customers a visual representation of what they’re buying.

To upload images, simply click the ‘Add Media’ button and select the photos you want to upload.

You can add multiple images at once, and Shopify lets you choose which image will be the main one that customers see first.

Tips for Product Photos:

– Use ‘high-resolution’ images to show details clearly.

– Show your product from different angles to give customers a full view.

– If you have multiple variants of the product (like different colors), be sure to upload images for each variant.

Once your images are uploaded, you can rearrange them by dragging and dropping them into the order you prefer.

The first image in the sequence will be the main image that appears on your product listing page.

Set the Product Price

Next, move down to the price section. This is where you’ll set the price of your product. You’ll see two fields:

– Price. (The actual price that you’re currently selling the product for.)

– Compare at price.  (The original price before any discount.)

For example, if you want to sell a product for $20, but it was originally priced at $25, enter $20 in the price field and $25 in the compare at price field. This will show customers that the product is on sale and could encourage more sales.

Set Product Quantity and Inventory

In the inventory section, you’ll enter how many units of the product you have in stock. Shopify will keep track of your inventory for you and notify you when you’re running low on stock.

Simply input the quantity you have available for sale. If you’re working with a supplier or drop-shipping service, make sure this number matches the actual stock levels.

Add Variants (Size, Color, Etc.)

If your product has multiple variants (such as different sizes, colors, or materials), Shopify makes it easy to manage them. Scroll down to the Variants section and click the Add Variants button.

You can add as many options as needed. For example, if you’re selling a shirt, you might add size and color as your options. After adding these options, Shopify will automatically create variants for each combination, such as “Large – Black” or “Medium – Blue.”

For each variant, you can also upload specific images and set different prices if necessary. For instance, if the black variant costs more than the yellow variant, you can enter the appropriate price for each one.

Now, scroll above and in the right side you will find status scticon. From here simply select the status Active.

 Save and Preview Your Product

Once you’ve filled in all the details, it’s time to save your product. Click the Save button at the top of the page.

After saving, you can click Preview to see how your product page will look to customers.

On the preview page, you’ll see your product images, title, description, price, and variants, just like your customers will. Double-check everything to make sure it looks good. If you spot any issues, you can always go back and make changes before the product goes live.

Conclusion
