eBay’s Multi-User / Secondary User Account Access Permission Setting

In this article, we are going to discuss on how to add a secondary user / Multi-user for your office staff to log into your eBay account.

Good news! eBay has given you relief from the stress of security of your eBay seller account by launching multi-user account access tool for their seller clients. eBay, one of the biggest marketplaces in eCommerce industry has recently launched a significant new tool for the sellers who do business with eBay on its annual seller event. It is known as multi-user account access. This tool is very much helpful for the sellers to manage their business and increase their sales as well. This is the part of the company’s ongoing agenda to create the world’s most powerful selling platform. In this article, we are going to discuss about eBay multi-user account access.

Starting from 24th July 2019, all sellers from the US, will be able to grant access to their Seller Hub in a more private and secure way. Sellers can now add employees or delegates to perform seller activities on their behalf without giving full access to their eBay account. Listings will be the first capability to roll out. Sellers will be able to delegate editing, drafting and publishing access for their listings to their employees. This provides both users — the seller and the employee — added security and privacy for their eBay account. Later this year, eBay will enable more permissions including shipping support for sellers to delegate. eBay is among the first eCommerce companies to enable this feature at scale, beginning with this roll out in the U.S.

eBay multi-user account access will also give business leads the ability to use strong two-factor authentication to secure their eBay account as they will no longer have to give full account access to all employees without having to be available to log them in each and every time they need to work. Now the sellers can secure their main account and employees will only have access to the features that are granted.

Initially, we can give permission to only two sections.

  • Create and edit drafts
  • Publish and revise listings

To give permission to our employees or delegates we need to add users as an authorized user in eBay seller account. We are going to show the simple steps to add authorized users below.

Step 1-

Go to your eBay seller account.

Step 2-

Click Account Settings on the top left side of the eBay seller page.

Step 3-

Then you get to see this page. From here, you need to click Permissions option on the bottom left side of the page.

Step 4-

Now you get the window where you can add an authorized user. To add an authorized user, you need your employee’s name and email. You will also choose which permission you want to give to the employee. Click +Add User on the top right side of the page.

Step 5-

After clicking +Add User, you might need to login to your same eBay seller account sometime. Do not get worried and fill up with your account credentials and log in.

Step 6-

Then you will get a window like below photo. In the Account section, fill up your employee’s first and last name. Also, fill the email address. You need to choose which permission you want to give to your employees or delegates. You can give access to either Create and edit drafts or Publish and revise listings or you can give permission for both access. Click on the Add User option as shown in the box on the left side of the page.

Finally, an invitation email will be sent to your employee or delegate’s email account. He or she would need to follow the instructions given in the invitation mail and will be able to work for you on your eBay seller account.

Currently, eBay has permitted two sections for the sellers to give access to their employees or delegates but in future, accesses of the work section for employees will be increased. It is a huge opportunity for sellers on eBay to manage their business in a more secure and wiser way. They can hire employees to work for them on eBay and won’t be worried about the security of their own eBay seller account anymore. At present, eBay launched this tool only for US sellers but it will be available for the sellers of eBay all around the world very soon.

Hope, this article will be helpful for you to create an authorized user account on your own eBay seller account and also hopefully you understood about eBay multi-user account access system. If you face any trouble during authorized user account creation or if you have any question regarding this article, please feel free to ask. We would be glad to give answers to your questions.
