1. New Amazon A+ Module

Amazon has released a new feature called “Product Complement Sets”. This feature allows sellers to showcase their products in a new way on their listings. The seller can add up to four columns of products with images, ASINs, and headlines. This is a great way to show off more products and potentially increase sales.

This feature will be displayed under ‘Shop the brand collection’. That means you’ll be able to see a new section on the product detail page, where bundle-type features are usually shown. It seems you can improve how you show complementary products within your catalog with this feature. And it’s all about being relevant to the customer’s shopping mission.

We’ve found it quite similar to the A+ content module. But the feature is in its trial period. You cannot access this yet. Hopefully, Amazon will soon give access to this feature to all the sellers.

2. FBA Low Inventory Fee Postponed

Amazon has postponed its low-level inventory fee for FBA sellers. This fee was announced in December of last year.

This fee applies to products with consistently low inventory levels relative to their sales. Now this fee has been postponed by Amazon. It’s because a lot of sellers are unhappy with it.

But, as Amazon said in their article, they will increase the charge. Amazon will charge it from April 1st to April 30. But at the month’s end, they will credit everything back.

Amazon charges this fee so that they can effectively distribute products across the fulfillment network. They think this will improve shipping speeds for customers and help drive more sales for sellers. Now, we have to wait for further announcements from Amazon about this matter.

3. TikTok Shop Fees have Increased

The next news is about the TikTok fee. While Amazon is concerned about fees, Tiktok is also increasing its fees. A few days ago, referral fees for products sold in TikTok shops increased by 200%, from 2% to 6%. But compared to Amazon’s referral fee, which is 15%, the fee at TikTok is pretty decent.

This fee is going to start on April 1st. There is also an indication for a further increase on July 1. While facing the U.S. Federal Trade Commission investigation and a possible U.S. ban, TikTok is prioritizing its finances by increasing referral fees in TikTok Shop, which is a huge move.

4. Shoppable A+ Content

This news is from Amazon Seller Central, where customers can add an item to a cart directly from the Standard Comparison Chart module.

For sellers who want to cross-promote on pages and have multiple products, it’s especially news for them. It’s almost kind of like an addition to your virtual bundles. The module shows real-time item prices and customer ratings, which will save customers time from extra scrolling.

5. Dietary Supplement Policy Updates

The Dietary Supplement Policy of Amazon become more restricted than before. This update will be effective on April 2, 2024. Sellers need to verify their dietary supplement products through third-party testing, inspection, and certification organizations. Amazon is trying to increase safety standards.

Sellers need to send the third-party verification test result to Amazon, and then Amazon will confirm compliance. After that, you will be able to sell it. Sellers who sell dietary supplement products need to be careful from now on.

6. Prepare Deals and FBA Inventory for Prime Day 2024

Amazon has announced the sellers to prepare deals and FBA inventory for Prime Day 2024. There is a deadline to prepare your deals and ship them to the fulfillment centers. So, if you want to participate, make sure that your FBA inventory arrives at Amazon’s fulfillment centers by June 20. It’s almost the eleventh hour to prepare for the prime days. If you want to do something, you have to do it now.

There are criteria to create deals; make sure that your account has a rating of more than 4 stars and your product has a rating of more than 4. If you are eligible and want to participate, you should prepare as soon as possible.

Although the date for Prime Day hasn’t been announced yet. However, based on the previous year’s announcement, it can be placed in July. And, according to our prediction, it will be on July 16 and 17.

7. Listing Quality Dashboard Enhancement on Walmart

There is a new update on Walmart’s listing quality and review tab. From now on, the seller can find a few new features on the dashboard, such as “inventory recommendations” from Success Hub. Also, a direct link was added to the Review Accelerator for eligible items.

An important update on the listing is “Priority Tags. Walmart added a feature that can boost your listing quality score.

8. YouTube Shopping is Boosting Social Commerce Competition

YouTube announced some updates to its shopping features this month. This will give content creators more flexibility in monetizing their channels.

YouTube is trying to compete in the social commerce landscape in the same way as TikTok. Some of the updates focus on new ways to showcase products on a creator’s page and refresh old content with new shopping links.

The launch of a new feature, “Affiliate Hub” has been expected. That will give access to the creators to use over 300 of YouTube’s partner brands, like Target, Ulta, and Adidas. It is going to be a centralized location for creators to find brands to work with, commission rates, promo codes, and sample requests.

The latest update includes Shopping Collections as well, where creators can put their store tab, product list, and video description. Content creators can monetize their previous work by tagging products in various videos.

9. eBay Uses AI to Deliver Recommendations to Fashion Shoppers

Our next news is about eBay. eBay has launched an artificial intelligence enhancement to help fashion shoppers. There are a lot of used products available on eBay. When somebody looks at some sort of style, it is going to recommend similar-style products based on the previous 10 clicks.

It is going to be good for sellers because it will show recommendations of similar-style clothing items to buyers. Hopefully, the AI system will be developed more in the future.

10. Online Shoppers are Starting to See Amazon as a Fashion Destination

The next update for this month is that online shoppers are starting to see Amazon as a fashion destination. Amazon’s market share in clothing for online sales is increasing spontaneously. For the first time, it rose to over 50 percent.

PYMNTS intelligence research reveals that digital shoppers are increasingly turning to Amazon to meet their apparel needs. It can be a great opportunity for apparel sellers.

11. Amazon Invests in AI

The last news item in this article is pretty fascinating. Amazon is going to invest 25 million dollars in a 10-year research collaboration to advance AI. They are doing this with the University of Washington, the University of Tsukuba, and NVIDIA.

They are giving opportunities to sellers focused on AI. This news provides us with the idea that Amazon is going to stay at the top of all e-commerce platforms. Amazon will go through a lot of innovations in the next few years.

In addition to that, Amazon announced over 700 million euros in investment in robotics and AI-powered technologies across Europe. Investors will rule the world of e-commerce.
