Since launching in February 2019, Target Plus (Target+) has become a top choice for many online businesses. With over 5 million active shoppers, it’s a great platform for wholesale sellers to explore.
What is Target Plus?
Target Plus (also known as Target+) is a curated third-party marketplace where only handpicked, high-quality sellers are allowed to list products on Target.com. Unlike open marketplaces, Target Plus is an exclusive platform designed to ensure a premium shopping experience for its customers.
When you’re accepted, your store receives a Target Plus badge, signaling to shoppers that your brand is verified and meets Target’s strict quality standards. This badge builds trust and improves your visibility across the site.
What Makes Target Plus Different from Amazon or Walmart?
Unlike Amazon and Walmart, where nearly anyone can create a seller account, Target Plus is invite-only. Here’s what sets it apart:
- Invite-Only Access – Only selected sellers are allowed in
- Curated Product Categories – Only approved product types are accepted
- Less Marketplace Clutter – Fewer low-quality or counterfeit listings
- Target’s Loyal Customer Base – Sellers gain access to millions of engaged, high-intent shoppers
Target Plus focuses on quality over quantity, creating a more controlled, brand-friendly environment where premium products and sellers can thrive with less competition.

Strategies to increase sales on Target Plus
In this article, we will uncover the top 5 strategies to increase sales on Target Plus Marketplace.
- Content Health Strategy
- SEO & Keyword Optimization
- Competitive Pricing
- Promotion and Deals
- Customer Service
Content Health Strategy:
If you want to increase sales, the first strategy would be to increase the content health as high as possible. The higher our content health, the higher you can generate sales.
What is Content Health?
Target analyses all the content of each seller based on its requirment and provides a result.
Target analyses sellers’ reviews, videos, size charts, images, descriptions, bullet features, etc. to give this score. If the rating is low, then you have to improve your listing. Sellers need to download this file, and then identify and fix the problem areas to get more sales.
How to download Content Scorecard from Target’s backend?
From your Target Seller Account dashboard, click Performance from the menu. Then click on item insights.

On the new page, download the score report by clicking on Download Score Report.

Then open the downloaded file.

Analyzing Content Scorecards
Target provides this Excel sheet to every seller. It shows the content’s health and the scope to improve it.
You will get a summary of your content health. Target recommends your overall content score be a minimum of 80. If your score is below 80, that means you should work on that. If you can keep more than 80, that will be better for your item. But you should ensure it won’t be lower than 80.
But if you can increase this score from 80 to near 90, that will ensure your sales will automatically jump.
Finding Problem Areas:
Let’s move to the next sheet. It is called item-level details. It has all of our SKUs. But, we need to focus on this column called content health score.

Here, Target uses three colors to mark your content health. Green, Yellow, and Red.
Green: Everything is in good shape.
Yellow: It has rooms for improvement.
Red: Need improve a lot.
Look out for the yellow and Red Marked SKUs. Then Scroll right to identify the lacking they have.

Look, some SKUs have unanswered questions. Some items don’t have any reviews. At least one review can help a lot on Target. Some have no size chart. And most of them don’t have videos.
Answering customers’ questions, having reviews, and adding size charts and videos are important to improve our content health. And better content health means bigger sales.
In this way analyze your SKUs, and identify the scopes of improvement. Then improve them.
When you improve them your content health ranting will increase. And in Target, higher content health automatically brings higher visibility, CTR, and conversion. And ultimately increase the profit.
NOTE: The average Content Health Score must be above 80. Try to get as close as 90. But Don’t fall below 80.
SEO & Keyword Optimization
Target has a huge advantage that no other marketplaces have. Unlike Amazon, you can even rank your listing organically.
So, why not craft a listing with optimizing keywords and get organic traffic?
The character limit for product titles on Target is 150 characters. Use the title to match your product to a customer’s search. Users will usually see only the first 70 or fewer characters of your title. Keep this part informative. And, avoid too much keyword stuffing.
Shoppers are more likely to convert when they interact with multiple images. Additional images can showcase key features and provide size/scale context.
Competitive Pricing
There are few products in the same niche. So, competitive pricing can make a huge impact.
If you explore a category, you’ll notice that the top-selling items are often priced very competitively.

So, staying competitive can have a huge impact on sales.
What we suggest, start with a lower price than your competitors. If everyone selling at 14.99 then start at 13.99 or 12.99. Then when you get a good amount of sales and reviews. Then set your initial price.
Promotion and Deals
Running promotions and deals can be your trump card when you are desperate to get more sales in a short time.
Target’s shoppers are really driven by those – buy-one-get-one – types of deals. You can offer gift cards to impress them. If you need urgent money, then run limited-time offers. And, you also can move your items inside Target’s clearance section to stock out the inventory.
Customer Service
Target cares about the customer service a lot. Ship your product within 24 hours of getting an order. The package should arrive at the customer’s hand within 5 days. Answer all the customers’ questions. These will help you to get better rating and reviews, and initially increase the sales.
Conclusion
In short, Target Plus has become really popular over time. It’s a great place for sellers to reach lots of shoppers who want quality products. You’re almost guaranteed to make some sales here. But many sellers think they’ll make big money without following the rules, which is not true. Compared to other marketplaces like eBay or Walmart, Target Plus stands out because of its strong reputation. If you stick to the guidelines, you can grow your sales and make your business more successful.
