The title is the most significant factor in search engine optimization. And the second key factor that can entice you to click.

For example, if you’re selling a vintage wallet, a headline like “Nice wallet” isn’t very successful. On the other hand, if you use more descriptive language, such as “vintage leather wallet for men- slim, durable, classic design,” you increase your chances of converting visitors into customers.

I use tools like the eBay product research tool and Zik Analytics to identify keywords with a high search volume but low competition. For example, when I searched for “vintage wallet for men,” only 39 merchants were targeting the precise term, and the demand graph looked promising. Including such keywords in your title increases your chances of ranking higher in search results.

Let’s go to the description, this is where you convince potential buyers why your product is the best fit. A lot of sellers make the mistake of making their descriptions too short or crowded. Your description is a chance to address every possible question a buyer may have.

 If I go to both listings, we can see the difference- where items that have higher price sell less than the items that have lower prices.

So, what can you do? You can keep your price a bit lower than your competitor. 

Another trick is, if your price is $50, you can sell it at $49.99 to attract more customers. Even a cent matters when you sell online, and customers are always looking for a good deal. 

So, when you price your product, make sure you offer a good deal!

Pro Tip: Set your prices somewhat lower than your competition. A $50 item priced at $49.99 can have a psychological appeal for purchasers. If you’re concerned about profit margins, consider listing at a higher price but offering discounts or coupons to provide the impression of a bargain.

5. Ignoring Discounts and Coupons

To set a discount on any listing, go to Seller Hub. From Marketing, click on Discount. Now, in the Create Discount section, you will find options such as Coupon, Sales Event, and Volume Pricing.

Let me show you how you can set a strikethrough price on eBay. It’s called a Sales Event-  

Go to the seller hub and from there click on marketing.  Now hover over in the create discount section

Click on Sales Event. 

Set the percentage or amount of the discount.  And then choose a start and end date. 

 After that add items to the discount event.  

Finally, click on Launch, and you’re all set! 

Pro Tip: Use sales events to show strikethrough prices. Customers enjoy visual cues that scream “deal!”

6. Shipping Mistakes That Hurt Sales

Now, let’s move onto shipping. Many sellers make shipping issues, such as slow delivery, ridiculous shipping costs, incorrect shipment information, and inadequate packaging. All of these blunders can affect your business by resulting in negative feedback, refunds, and, ultimately, lost consumers.

So, strive to offer quicker shipment, like two or three days. This can dramatically boost your sales. The finest thing you can do is offer free shipping. When purchasers see a product with an additional shipping charge, they are turned off; nevertheless, free shipping attracts them. This allows you to cover the delivery costs while luring buyers with free shipment. This is a win-win situation.

Pro Tip: Build shipping costs into your product price and label it as “free shipping.” Use sturdy packaging and double-check tracking numbers to avoid complaints.
