What are variation themes on eBay?
Variation themes are a way to group similar items in a single eBay listing. Suppose you’re selling a necklace, and it comes in various colors and sizes. Instead of creating separate listings for each color and size, you can put them all together under one variation theme.
Variation themes make it easy for buyers to choose what they want. When they check out your listing, they can pick their preferred size and color from a dropdown menu. No need to scroll through multiple listings – it’s all in one place. That simplifies their shopping, and when buyers find shopping easy, they’re more likely to make a purchase.
How to add/update variations on existing eBay listings
Now let’s go through the process step by step, making it easy to handle your existing eBay listings:
Step 1: First, log into your eBay Seller Hub.
Step 2: Once you’re logged in, Click on My eBay and then Selling.
Step 3: Head over to Listings and select Active from the dropdown menu and you will see all of your active listings.
Now, let’s say we want to add a variation theme to this listing (showing the listing). So it has a variation named Size and we want to add a color variation.
Step 4: Take the Custom label SKU from here and search with it in your seller hub. Here we have many other options like title, eBay Item Number, etc. Then click on search.
Step 5: When you find the item, click on the Edit option.
Step 6: Scroll down and you will find the Variations segment. We have another Edit option here, click on that.
Step 7: On the following page it says Attributes and options you’ve selected – Click on the Edit option beside that.
Step 8: This is our current variation theme – Size and we have two options for this one. To update the variation theme – click on Create your own button and add your value. Once done save it.
Step 9: Now if you want to add a new variation, click on the Add button.
Step 10: You can choose a variation theme from the given list. But if you want you can also add your own attribute. Let’s add Color variation here. Click on Save and it will be added.
Step 11: Then add your attribute values. On the right side, you can see all of the attributes and options you have selected. You can also drag and arrange these as you like.
Step 12: Once completed, click on update variations. Here you will get two options for updating.
- Update automatically – your variation combinations will be updated but you will lose the previous information such as SKU, quantity, or price. You have to add them again for each variation.
- I’ll do it myself – you have to add the combinations and update the new variation information only. So here we are going with this one.
Step 13: From the right corner, click on Add Combination and fill up the variation information.
Step 14: After finishing click on Save and Close.
Step 15: Submit your updates by clicking on Revise it here.
