Variable products in WooCommerce let you offer a set of variations on a product with control over SKU, prices, stock, image, specification, and other attributes for each variation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They can be used for a product like a shirt, where you can offer a large, medium and small and in different colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Okay, let&#8217;s dive into the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Adding Variation items on WooCommerce<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Set the Product Type<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To add a variable product, create a new product or edit an existing one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to: <strong>WooCommerce &gt; Products<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Add Product<\/strong> button or <strong>Edit <\/strong>an existing product. \u2014 use global attributes that are site-wide or define custom ones specific to a product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Global Attributes<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To use a global attribute on your product:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First, create a global attribute.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then you can choose said global attribute from the dropdown and select <strong>Add<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>Select all<\/strong> to add all values to the variable product (if applicable).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Most importantly select the <strong>Used for variations<\/strong> checkbox to use these for variations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Save attributes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure by a vertical pipe, | (e.g., <strong>Small | Medium | Large<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable the <strong>Used for variations checkbox<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Save <strong>Variations<\/strong> section in the <strong>Product data<\/strong> meta box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Manually Add a Variation<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select <strong>Add variation<\/strong> from the dropdown menu, and select <strong>Go<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select attributes for your variation. To change additional data, click the triangle icon to expand the variation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Edit any available data. The only required field is <strong>Regular Price.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Save changes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Creating All Possible Variations<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Select <strong>Create variations from all attributes<\/strong> to have WooCommerce create every possible combination of variations from your attributes and their values. If you have more possible combinations you can run it again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, if you have two attributes \u2013 color (with values blue and green) and size (with values large and small) it creates the following variations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Large Blue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Large Red<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Small Blue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Small Red<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Adding Variation Data<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each variation can have the following properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>General<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Enabled<\/strong> \u2013 Enable or disable the variation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Downloadable<\/strong> \u2013 If this is a downloadable variation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Virtual<\/strong> \u2013 If this product isn\u2019t physical or shipped, shipping settings are removed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Regular Price<\/strong> (required) \u2013 Set the price for this variation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sale Price <\/strong>(optional) \u2013 Set a price for this variation when on sale.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tax status<\/strong> \u2013 Taxable, shipping only, none.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tax class<\/strong> \u2013 Tax class for this variation. Useful if you are offering variations spanning different tax bands.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stock quantity<\/strong> \u2013 Shows if <strong>Manage stock?<\/strong> is selected. Allows setting the current stock level for the variation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Allow backorders?<\/strong> \u2013 Shows if <strong>Manage stock?<\/strong> is selected. Allows to set if backorders are allowed for the variation; if enabled, stock can go below zero.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Low stock threshold<\/strong> \u2013 Shows if <strong>Manage stock?<\/strong> is selected. When the stock for the variation reaches this level you will get a notification email. If not set, the product-wide threshold will be used (see <em>Inventory Management<\/em> below).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Downloadable Files<\/strong> \u2013 This shows if <strong>Downloadable<\/strong> is selected. Add a file(s) for customers to download.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Download Limit<\/strong> \u2013 Shows if <strong>Downloadable<\/strong> is selected. Set how many times a customer can download the file(s). Leave blank for unlimited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Download Expiry<\/strong> \u2013 Shows if <strong>Downloadable<\/strong> is selected. Input the quantity. Stock for the specific variation, or left blank to use the product\u2019s stock settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Allow Backorders<\/strong> \u2013 Choose how to handle backorders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Low stock threshold<\/strong> \u2013 When the stock for the variation reaches this level you will get a notification email.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sold Individually?<\/strong> \u2013 Allow only one to be sold in one order. (This setting is used for the product itself. You cannot set a specific variation to only be sold once per order)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Set Stock Status<\/strong> can be applied to all variations at once to <strong>In stock<\/strong> or <strong>Out of stock<\/strong>.
